DVB-T2 (Digital Video Broadcasting — Terrestrial, second generation) is the digital terrestrial TV standard adopted by ITU for most of Sub-Saharan Africa. It delivers more channels, HD picture and better spectrum efficiency than analog broadcasting.
Most African countries have completed or are completing analog switch-off: Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia and others all broadcast in DVB-T2. Every household with an analog TV needs a DVB-T2 decoder (set top box) — a market of tens of millions of units.
