DVB-T2 is the second-generation digital terrestrial television standard — signal comes from land-based transmitter towers and is received with a simple antenna. DVB-S2 is the second-generation satellite broadcasting standard — signal comes from a geostationary satellite and is received with a dish. A DVB-T2 receiver cannot decode satellite signals, and a DVB-S2 receiver cannot decode terrestrial signals: the hardware tuners and demodulators are different.
